James Howard Bratcher, Jr., 67, a true hero and family man, of Greenville, Indiana, passed away peacefully on Monday, October 20, 2014 with his family by his side. He was a United States Navy veteran that proudly served his country during the Vietnam War. Jim was the owner of United Sound and Alarm. He enjoyed gardening, fishing, and loved spending time with his grandchildren.

Jim was born on December 14, 1946 in Louisville, Kentucky to Mary (Spalding) Bratcher and the late James, Sr. He was also preceded in death by his sister, Mary Ann Barrett; and mother-in-law, Betty Hurt.

Along with his mother, Jim is survived by his wife of 41 years, Bonnie Sue (Hatley) Bratcher; daughters, Bonnie Jean Bratcher (Tim Hazen), Jamie Lea Kohler (Michael), Brittany Lee (Rocky); brother, Michael Bratcher; and grandchildren, Brady, Gabriel, Madyson, Myka, Shelbi “Gracie,” and Lacey.

Visitation will be from 3 to 7 PM on Thursday, October 23, 2014 at Newcomer Funeral Home (3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany) with his Funeral Service being held at 7 PM.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Wounded Warrior Project (PO Box 758517, Topeka, KS 66675) or to the U.S. War Dogs Association (1313 Mount Holly Road, Burlington, NJ 08016).
