Mary Rita (Korbe) Kirchgessner, 86, of Floyds Knobs, Indiana, passed away on Friday, November 27, 2015. Mary was a loving and dedicated wife and mother. She was a life time member of St. Mary of the Knobs Catholic Church in Floyds Knobs. She was very gifted at sewing and quilting and loved to tend to her garden. Mary had a generous spirit and was always willing to extend her hand to someone in need.

She was born on December 8, 1928 in Floyd County, Indiana to the late Martin W. & Clara M. (Andres) Korbe. She was also preceded in death by her daughter in law, Roberta Kirchgessner; and her grandson, Patrick Kirchgessner.

Mary is survived by her loving husband of 63 years, Emil Kirchgessner; sons, Robert (Merlinda), Merrell, Donald (Colleen), Vernon (Patricia), Melvin (Martha), and Irvin (Linda); sisters, Martha Gesenheus and Catherine Sutherland; 21 grandchildren; and 21 great grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 11 to 8 PM on Tuesday, December 1, 2015 at Newcomer Funeral Home (3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany). Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 12 PM on Wednesday in the chapel at St. Mary of the Knobs Catholic Church (3011 Martin Road, Floyds Knobs) with burial to follow in the church cemetery.

Contributions in Mary’s memory may be made to the St. Vincent De Paul Society (651 Eastern Blvd, Clarksville, IN 47129).
