Donald Ray Benningfield, Sr., age 68 of Louisville, passed away Friday, October 9, 2015. Known for his humor and talent as a singer and guitarist, Don was a spiritual person who loved his family very much. He graduated from Fern Creek High School , attended Spencerian College and retired from L&N. He was an avid fan of “Texas Hold’em”, a huge UofL fan and a passion for fishing. Don was preceded in death by his parents, Floyd Bernard and Mary Willie Reynolds Benningfield; step-son, Billy Anson.

Don is survived by his wife, Gail; sons, Donnie Benningfield (Tracey) and Joe Benningfield; daughters, Amy Smiley (Renee) and Cami Gucinski (Jason); grandchildren, Trinity Gucinski, Katelyn, Lauren, Natalie, Garrett and Preston Benningfield; sisters, Deanna Mivelaz (Chuck) and Debbie Hennessey (Terry); brothers, David Benningfield (Phyllis) and Daryl Benningfield; nieces and nephews, Brandon and Aaron Mivelaz, Lorna Henke (Jan), Austin Hennessey (Nicole), Tisha St. John (Nathan), Mary Rose Hennessey, Tim Benningfield (Hillary), Lori Copler (Chris) and Daryk Benningfield; step-daughter, Tammy Mackin (Steven); step-son, John Anson; step-grandchildren, Jonny and Mercedes Mackin and Tessa and Ava Anson; and a host of relatives and friends.

Visitation will be 12-3pm Saturday, October 17, 2015 at Newcomer Funeral Home, 235 Juneau Drive with service to follow at 3pm.

Memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association.
