Evelyn Adelaide (Thomas) McIntyre, 84, returned to her Heavenly Father on July 28, 2015.

She was born in New Albany, Indiana on August 22, 1930 to the late Ray & Florence (Cogswell) Thomas. Evelyn was very artistic and loved crafts and crocheting. She was considered a Gold Star Sister, which signified the loss of her brother, Edward, who was serving in World War II. Evelyn was known as a very classy lady who took pride in her appearance. She was a member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church and retired from Indiana Univeristy – Southeast after working many years as a secretary.

Evelyn is survived by her brother, Irvin Thomas; 5 nieces; 9 nephews; her very special friend, Diane Shaver, who is her POA, caregiver, and angel from Heaven, and her husband, Bill and their daughter, Alexis; her dear friends, Kathy Ransdell, Billie Hardy, Donna Adams, Greg & Patty Henderzahs, & Barry Hoke. Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Gilbert “Mac” McIntyre; brothers, Malcolm, Edward, & Stanley Thomas. Special thanks to Father Ken for all his prayers and visits and to the staff of Lincoln Hills for their extraordinary care during this difficult time.

Visitation will be from 4 PM to 8 PM Friday, July 31, 2015 at Newcomer Funeral Home (3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany). Her Funeral Mass will take place at 10 AM on Saturday at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church (1752 Scheller Lane, New Albany, IN) with entombment to follow at Kraft-Graceland Memorial Park.

Memorial contributions may be made to Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church.
