Barbara Gene Schubert Trimble, born in Indianapolis October 26, 1931 to Carl W. Schubert and Mary M. McLaughlin Schubert died at Baptist East Hospital in Louisville, Kentucky Friday, July 3. She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Charles Schubert.

She graduated from Arsenal Tech High School in 1949 and from Indiana University in 1953. She was a member of Zeta Tau Alpha sorority. During her school years she worked in Indiana state government offices during summer vacations. Following her graduation from Indiana University she served as a staff member in Washington D.C. for Senator William E. Jenner.

In 1954 she married Robert G. Trimble. The couple had a son and a daughter. In 1961 they moved to Hanover. She was a member of the Madison Country Club, Psi Iota Xi, the League of Women Voters, Historic Madison, Inc., and the Hanover faculty women’s club. She was a member of various Indiana Governor’s education commissions, and for many years was on the Historic Review Board of the Indiana Department of Natural Resources. She served for more than fifteen years as the Clerk Treasurer of the town of Hanover and later helped in the office of the Treasurer of Madison.

Barbara was well known locally as an artist for her many sketches of historic buildings of Madison and Hanover College. She was also a watercolor painter.

She is survived by her husband of sixty years, one son John C. Trimble and his wife Ann of Indianapolis, one daughter Lisa Trimble Actor and her husband David of Flagstaff, Arizona, four grandchildren, one great grandson, and many nieces and nephews.

Her cremains will be placed in the scatter garden of the Veteran’s Memorial Cemetery in Madison. At a time and place to be announced the family will receive friends.

Barbara was a founding member of the Madison and Jefferson County Community Foundation. She was particularly interested in the development of the Girls’ Club. The family thinks it would be appropriate for memorial contributions in her honor to be made to the Barbara Trimble Memorial Fund for Girls Inc. at the Community Foundation.
