Along with his parents, Gary was preceded in death by his loving grandmother, Frances Thomas. He is survived by his loving wife of 26 years, Marilyn (Franks) Cottrill; sons, Evan and Austin Cottrill; two half-brothers, Dennis Cottrill (Mary) and Charles Cottrill (Laurie); sister-in-law, Sharon Franks; brothers-in-law, Donald (Eileen) Franks and David (Diane) Franks; along with many cousins, uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, and his many long-time friends, friars and brothers from Mount St. Francis.
Visitation will be on Thursday, May 28, 2015 from 11 to 8 PM at Newcomer Funeral Home (3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany, Indiana 47150). His Funeral Service will be on Friday, May 29, 2015 at 10 AM at Our Lady of Perpetual Help (1752 Scheller Lane, New Albany, IN 47150) with burial to follow at St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery in New Albany, Indiana.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to the doctors and staff at the Norton Cancer Institute in Louisville, Kentucky for all their loving care and support and the Multiple Myeloma Center in Little Rock, Arkansas.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to Mount St. Francis Retreat Center (101 St. Anthony Drive, Mount St. Francis, IN 47146) or Home-Away-from-Home Ministries (4301 West Markham Street, Little Rock, AR 72205).
