Mary Jeanne “Mame” (Crowhurst) Garner, 83, of New Albany, Indiana passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 29, 2015. She was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church in New Albany where she served in many leadership roles. She was a teacher at Bellarmine University where she had also served on the Board of Overseers. Mame also served on the board of Norfolk Southern Railroad Medical Auxiliary and was a member of the Alpha Club. Mame was very proud of her family and their accomplishments. She was active in both her community and her children’s lives.

She was born on September 17, 1931 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania to the late Herbert and Anna (Kollar) Crowhurst. She was also preceded in death by her husband, William Garner, Jr., M.D.; sister, Jocelyn Anne O’Brien; and daughter-in-law, Ann Garner.

Mame is survived by her children, Lisbeth Bone, D.D.S. (John), William H. Garner, III M.D., Mary Jo Garner (Greg Pennell), John Garner (Sarah), Kathryn Garner, M.D. (Mark DelBello), Paul Garner, M.D. (Debra), James E. Garner (Deborah), Anne Offutt (Ron), Thomas Garner, D.D.S. (Jenni); 38 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 12 to 8 PM on Wednesday, April 1, 2015 at Newcomer Funeral Home (3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany, IN). Her liturgy of the word will be celebrated at 11:30 AM on Thursday at Holy Family Catholic Church (129 W. Daisy Lane, New Albany, IN) with burial to follow in Holy Trinity Catholic Cemetery.

Contributions in Mame’s memory may be made to the Dr. William, Jr. & Mary Garner & family Endowed Legacy Scholarship at Bellarmine University (2001 Newburg Road, Louisville, KY 40205).
