1940 - 2018

Virginia Kay Babcock, age 78 of Louisville, passed away Monday, July 16, 2018. Born in Abingdon, Illinois, she grew up in Canton, Illinois and lived in Davenport, Iowa, Louisville, Kentucky and Pensacola, Florida where she developed close friendships and special memories. She was a member of Southeast Christian Church where she was in the choir and attended Classic Worship and the Agape Class. She was a former long-term member of Evangel Tabernacle. Over the years, she participated in VBS, prison ministries, a crisis pregnancy center, Fern Creek Ministries and various other ministries including the Gideons, and was a member of the Jim Silvers Trio who produced an album. She was a supportive wife who worked in her husband’s chiropractic practice and was his main caregiver throughout his illness. Virginia was a loving and beloved mother and grandmother who was always there to serve, encourage and be supportive of her family and dear friends. She loved gardening, reading and playing family games. She was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Dr. Herbert Larry Babcock; and her parents, Gilbert Shaw and Carrie Pearl Nott Simpson; siblings, Harry Eugene Shaw and Patricia Brown.

Virginia is survived by her loving children, Jay Babcock, Marjorie Hester (Tim), Beth Chandler (Greg) and Timothy Babcock (Susan); grandchildren, Owen Auston-Babcock, Rebekah Hester Sandusky (Ben), TJ Hester (Abby), Sarah Hester, Joanna Hester, Michael Hester, Lydia Hester, Joshua Hester, Stephen Hester, Julia Hester, Jon Mark Hester, Daniel Hester, Samuel Hester, Gabriel Chandler, Nathaniel Chandler, Jacob Chandler, Abigail Chandler and Dolon Babcock; and a host of relatives and friends.

Virginia dearly loved her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

Visitation will be 5-8 pm Thursday, July 19, 2018 at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals and Receptions, East Louisville Chapel, 235 Juneau Drive in Middletown. A visitation will also be held Friday, July 20th from 10 am-11 am at Southeast Christian Church, 920 Blankenbaker Parkway in the Fireside Room, with a celebration of Virginia’s life to be held there at 11 am. Entombment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to Fern Creek Ministries and Hosparus.
