She was born on May 12, 1926 in Brant, New York to the late John and Rose (Tampio) Mirusso. She was also preceded in death by her husband Samuel Anthony Joy, brothers Anthony Mirusso, Jim Mirusso, sister Sarah Vecchio and son-in-law Stephan Roethke.
Mayme was 1944 graduate of Angola High School in Angola, NY where she known to be the best Hepcat dancer in all her class. After graduation she went to beauty school and become a beautician. Later she took a position at Liberty National Bank in NY where she retired after 20 years. She was a member of United Senior Citizens, Catholic Daughters of America, Share and Care and the Moose Club.
Mayme's legacy will always live on through her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren by her famous meatball recipe, pasta soku, her Italian cookies and her selfless love for her family.
She is survived by her son Samuel Joy (Eleanor), daughters Nancy Ackerman (Rick) and Karen Roethke, grandchildren; Stacy Morreale (Paul), Michael Joy, Matthew Ackerman, Kelley Hamilton (Mike), Kaela Turley (Bobby), Stephanie Roethke, great-grandchildren; Isabella, Sophia, Ryder, Hudson, Bobby, Owen and Griffin. She is also survived by her sister Marie Spicola and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Visitation will be from 2:00 pm to 6:00 pm on Sunday, June 17, 2018 at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions (235 Juneau Drive Louisville, KY 40243).
Visitation also will be held from 11:00am to 1:00pm with mass at 1:00pm on Wednesday, June 20, 2018 at St. Anthony's Catholic Church (66 Cushing Street Fredonia, NY 14063) with burial to follow at St. Antony's Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to Hosparus of Louisville and/or WCA Home (134 Temple Street Fredonia, NY 14063).
