In Memory Of
Lillian Marie (Epperson) Mahaney
1925 - 2018
After raising her two daughters, Lillian worked for the Courier Journal Newspaper where she was the Supervisor of the Classified Advertising Dept. She also worked in the Mahaney Antique Co., owned by her and her husband, and in the LBD Ceramics business which she and her daughters owned.
Lillian was a member of the Parkwood United Methodist Church for many years where she was a member of the Women's Auxiliary group, Youth Group leader for the MYF, and choir member.
During WW II she knitted sweaters for the soldiers, made hundreds of lap throws for nursing home residence, and spent her last 10 years crocheting baby blankets for her ministry "Blankies for Babies". She always said she put love in every stitch.
Lillian was a devoted wife, mother, mother-in-law, and grandmother. Beyond her love of God and family, she loved animals, especially cats, and never missed the opportunity to feed, pet, and talk to them. She also loved the dog next door, and looked forward to giving him treats on a regular basis.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 75 years, B.A. (Bill) Mahaney. She is survived by her daughters, Billie M. McDonald (Jim) and Detsi M. Woerner (Fred); and grandsons, Bryan E. McDonald and Michael B. Woerner.
Lillian's family would like to thank her friends and neighbors at Ridgehurst Place for their kindness throughout the years, and the Hospice Staff for their compassionate care. God bless you all.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, April 25, 2018 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals and Receptions, East Louisville Chapel (235 Juneau Drive, Louisville, KY 40243). The funeral service will be private for the family.
Memorial contributions may be made to The Golden Arrow, an outreach program for mothers and babies, St. Martin of Tours Church, 639 S. Shelby St., Louisville, Ky 40202 or Breast Cancer Research.
