Manuel Joseph "Manny" Fernandez, Jr.
1951 - 2018

Manuel (Manny) Joseph Fernandez, Jr., age 66, passed away on March 16, 2018 surrounded by his family after a long battle with cancer. Manny was born May 25, 1951 in Harwich, MA to the late Manuel Joseph Fernandez, Sr. and Lillian (Leite) Fernandez. Manny joined the U.S. Air Force in 1971 and retired after 24 years of service, serving the majority of his career at Wright Patterson Air Force Base. Manny and his family made the Dayton, Ohio area their home for 23 years. After serving in the military, Manny was a government contractor and then worked in the U.S. Civil Service. After retiring from the U.S. Civil Service, Manny and his wife Marion relocated to Louisville, Kentucky in 2015. Manny was also an avid golfer and New England sports fan.

Manny is survived by his wife of 41 years, Marion Christina (Lewis) Fernandez; three daughters, Misty Alise Fernandez, Micaela Fernandez Allen (son-in-law Leigh Allen), Megan Ryan Fernandez; two granddaughters Destini Alise Fernandez, age 12, and Madeleine Belle Allen, age 2; his mother, Lillian Fernandez, age 91; his mother-in-law, Larissa Lewis, age 96; and nine siblings, Elizabeth "Betty" Sullivan (brother-in-law Jerry Sullivan), Brenda Fernandez, Deborah Rose, Dana Fernandez (sister-in-law Elenor Fernandez), Diana Fernandez, Charlene Fernandez, Joan Fernandez, Shelley Sherman (brother-in-law Bill Sherman) and Lance Fernandez, as well as numerous extended family and close friends.

Visitation will be 1pm-2pm on Tuesday, March 20, 2018 at Newcomer Cremations, Funeral and Receptions, East Louisville Chapel, 235 Juneau Drive, Louisville, KY with a celebration of Manny’s life at 2:00 p.m.

Visitation will also be 12-1pm on Thursday. March 29, 2018 at Chapman, Cole & Gleason Funeral Home, 584 W. Falmouth Hwy (Route 28A) West Falmouth, MA 02574, with a celebration of Manny's life at 1pm there. Burial will be in Massachusetts National Cemetery, Connery Avenue, Bourne, MA 02532.
