Mary Elizabeth (Broderick) “Betsy” Avis, 65, of Floyds Knobs, Indiana, passed away on Thursday, February 15, 2018 in New Albany. She was a member of St. Mary’s Navilleton Catholic Church and a former member of St. Mary of the Knobs Catholic Church. Betsy loved to travel and play cards and the slot machines at the casino, but her true love was her family, especially her grandchildren. She was always there when anyone needed her and got joy in caring for others.

She was born on April 2, 1952 in Louisville, KY to the late Edward J. & Alice E. (Berry) Broderick.

Betsy is survived by her husband of 44 years, Frank E. Avis; children, Shannon M. Main (Kevin), Mindy M. Avis and Branden E. Avis (Ashley); sister, Annie B. Frank (Bobby); brother, Michael P. Broderick (Toni); sister in law, Karen Avis Reinhardt; and grandchildren, Alice, Gracie, Cooper, Owen and Brooks.

Visitation will be from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Sunday, February 18, 2018 at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions (3309 Ballard Lane New Albany, IN 47150) and from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Monday, February 19, 2018. Her Funeral Mass will be held at 10 AM on Tuesday, February 20, 2018 at the chapel of St. Mary of the Knobs Catholic Chapel (5719 St. Mary’s Road, Floyds Knobs, IN 47119) with burial to follow at St. Mary’s Navilleton Catholic Cemetery.

Contributions in Betsy’s memory may be made to the American Cancer Society (1640 Lyndon Farm Ct., Suite 104, Louisville, KY 40223).
