1947 - 2017

Rodger Dale Coy, Sr., 70, of New Albany, Indiana, passed away on Saturday, September 22, 2017. He was a proud United States Army Veteran of the Vietnam War and a Baptist minister who also enjoyed hiking, camping, and target shooting. Rodger was the founder of Davis-Coy Insurance Agency in Charlestown and was the girls’ basketball coach for Graceland Baptist Church where he was a church member. In recent years, he was a member of the Charlestown Road Southern Baptist Church.

Rodger was born on March 9, 1947 in Charlestown, Indiana to the late Beadie and Mary Gladys (Wimpsett). Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Tammy Coy; and sister, Sherry Wolfe.

Rodger is survived by his wife, Trudy Ann (Davis) Coy; children, Mary Renee Wilder, Rodger D. Coy, II, Julie Dietrich (Eric), and Jessica Marquis; 7 grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren; and siblings, Sandra Emery, Mary Carlitta Lyle, Timothy Coy (Pamela), and Zachary Coy (Cara).

Visitation will be from 4 PM to 8 PM on Wednesday, September 27, 2017, at Newcomer Funeral Home (3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany). His Funeral Service will take place at 10 AM Thursday, September 28, 2017 at the funeral home with burial and military honors to follow at Abundant Life Cemetery.
