In Memory Of
Richard Harrison "Sr." Nix
1936 - 2017

Richard “Rick” Harrison Nix, Sr., of Louisville, KY., passed away on September 23, 2017. He was born to the late Mary Lee Nix and Alvin Nix on June 25, 1936 in Owensboro, KY.  He is preceded in death by sister Louise Cain (JL), brothers Bill (Dot), Alvin “Pug” (Bert), Tony Brenner (Carla), Bill Jackson (Hannah), and sister Nancy Brown (Don).

Rick is survived by his wife Dolly; daughter Debbie Anspach, son Rick, Jr. (Patti), son Jack Sr (Cherie); and 6 grandkids, George Anspach Jr, Jana Troutman (Mark), Jessica Logsdon (Matt), Richard Nix III (Mary Beth), Sara Roby (Rob), and Jacob Nix, Jr. (Brittani); great-grandkids, Chase, Hayden, Patrick, Maggie, Luc, Curtis, Grace, Jacob III, Hailey, and Liam.  He is also survived by sister Rebecca Wathen (JB), brother Raymond (Shirley), sister Celia Kessinger (Tom), and several loving nieces and nephews.

Rick fell from the roof of a warehouse at 2nd and Main St on May 8, 1957.  He was not expected to survive at the time, but fought his way back and after relearning to walk went back to his job as a roofer.  He created and owned Crescent Hill Roofing until his retirement.

Described by his loving wife of 65 years as “the smartest and kindest man she’s ever known,” Rick was instrumental in the creation and coaching of the Crescent Hill athletic association that provided hundreds of youth the chance to participate in sports and later in life he coached countless softball teams.  Rick served as a father figure for numerous kids in the neighborhood, always treating them as his own and  always opening his home to those in need.   Rick was an avid Kentucky Wildcats fan and never missed a game.   His wife Dolly states that he will forever be in her heart and that she will love him forever.

A joyous gathering will be held at a later date where all will be welcomed to come celebrate Rick’s life and the impact he had on them.
