Ann Elizabeth Garner, "Cookie" was born in Valley Station, Kentucky on November 5, 1943 to the late Herschel Sr. and Anna Lee Ford Johnson.

Ann attended Valley High School and worked as a Certified Medical Assistant until she retired. She enjoyed playing cards, bowling, spending time with her family and listening to the blues. Ann was a fierce woman that even in death she fought until the end. She was a loving and caring mother who was always there for her children. She will be truly missed.

"Cookie" as she was fondly called, departed this life on June 21, 2017. She leaves to cherish fond memories her three children, Winfred E. Garner Jr. (Brandia), Marsha R. Garner and Jeanine M. Garner; nine grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and cousins. She is also survived by her siblings, Katherine Lowery, Lois (Richard) Whitlow, Charles (Barbara) Johnson, Carolyn Gardner, Martha (Eli) Murrell, Dorothy Acklin, Larry (Jackie) Johnson and Patricia Frazier; a brother-in-law, Rodgers Roberts; and a sister-in-law, Yvette Johnson.

In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband, Winfred E. Garner Sr.; two brothers, Grover Johnson and Herschel Johnson Jr; a sister, Pamela Roberts; and a granddaughter, Nya Oldham.

A service to celebrate her life will be conducted Friday, June 23, 2017 at Noon at Newcomer Funeral Home, Southwest Louisville Chapel with burial to follow in Green Meadows Cemetery. Friends and family may visit on Friday from 10:30 a.m. till noon at the funeral home.
