Wanda Strong, 83, of Fairdale, passed away peacefully, surrounded by loved ones, early on the morning of February 24th 2017. She was the eldest daughter of Floyd and Hassie Spencer and a retired employee of the state. A talented pianist and organist, she shared her gift with her family, as well as many churches and nursing homes. Wanda’s most important contribution was being a mother, sister, grandmother and great grandmother to so many who will miss her dearly. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 62 years Jimmy Strong; daughter Karen Tharpe ; daughter-in-law Lesa Bell Strong and her grandson Matthew Morrisey. To cherish her memory she leaves her loyal son and care giver Tommy Strong (Sandra); son David Strong (Pam); daughter Sheree Cerny (Sonny); daughter Pam Edrington, son Jamie Strong; daughter Jackie Riggs (Terry); 12 grandchildren and 9 great grand children.

Visitation will be from 3:00 pm to 8:00 pm Tuesday, February 28, 2017 at Newcomer Funeral Home, Southwest Louisville Chapel (10304 Dixie Highway, Louisville, KY 40272). Funeral service will be held Wednesday at 11:00 am at the funeral home with burial following in Pennsylvania Run Cemetery.
