Virginia (Standifer) Howard, 95, passed away peacefully on Saturday, February 18, 2017. She was a long-time resident of Maple Manor Nursing Home in Sellersburg. Virginia was a woman of strong faith and enjoyed reading the Bible. She also enjoyed painting and possessed a fierce love for her family.

She was born on October 21, 1921 in Pound, Virginia to the late William and Mary Jane (Adams) Standifer. Virginia was also preceded in death by her husband, Raymond Howard; children, Doloris Weilbaker, Glen Howard; siblings, Orville, Delmar, Vernon, and Eula Standifer.

Virginia is survived by her son, David Howard (Lisa); son-in-law, Steve Weilbaker; grandchildren, Alan Burks (Patti), Angie Brown (Wade), Amy Howard, John Hoskins (Andrea), Kyle Howard, Ryan Howard, Jeremy Weilbaker (Rebecca), Kayla Alvey (Aaron); 6 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be from 4 PM to 8 PM Tuesday, February 21, 2017 at Newcomer Funeral Home (3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany) and on Wednesday after 9 AM. Her Funeral Service will take place at 11 AM on Wednesday in the chapel at the funeral home with burial to follow at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church Cemetery in Louisville.
