1926 - 2017

Thomas Kennedy Doerr, "Tommy" 90, of Louisville, Kentucky passed away on February 15, 2017. Thomas served in the Army during WWII. He retired from The Naval Ordnance after 20 years of service. Thomas then went into business for himself, he owned and operated Doerr's Air Conditioning and Refrigeration.

He was a Deacon and member of Poplar Level Baptist Church for 50 years. He was also a member of the Masonic Lodge #218, Archer Shooters Association, International Bow Hunting Association, National Field Archery Association, National Rifle Association and the Chickasaw Archery Club and he won 1st place in the National Championship for 2 years in a row.

Thomas was born on August 15, 1926, in Louisville, Kentucky to the late Thomas K. Doerr, Sr., and Lillian Boone Doerr. He was also preceded in death by his sister, Virginia Mathis and son-in-law, Donald Burton.

He is survived by his loving wife of 69 years, Margaret Mae (Eldridge) Doerr; children, Betty Hester (Ernie), Randy Doerr, Janet Cook (Kenny), Carolyn Murphy (Jerry); grandchildren, Tanya Marcum (Greg), Casey Ross (Josh), Jamie Mitchell (John), Melissa Doerr; great-grandchildren, Chloe, Donnie, Zoe, Mitchell, Bailey, Josie and Jameson; siblings, Margaret Miller and Leona Brinley.

Visitation will be from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Monday, February 20, 2017 at Newcomer Funeral Home (235 Juneau Drive, Louisville, KY 40243.) A funeral service to honor the life of Tommy, will be held on Tuesday, February 21, 2017 at 11 a.m. at the funeral home, with burial to follow at Louisville Memorial Gardens East.

In loving memory of Thomas, memorial donations may be made to The Disabled Veterans of America.
