Larry Edward Hill, 66, of Louisville, KY passed away on Wednesday, July 20, 2016.

He was an Army veteran. Larry was born in New York, and as the child of a career Air Force father traveled extensively. When he followed his brother to Kentucky, he fell in love with the Commonwealth and made it his home.
He was an avid fan of all Louisville Cardinal Sports and a fan of Bellarmine basketball. He could be heard often calling into sports talk radio and was affectionately called “Bellarmine Larry.”

Larry coached hockey for several years. He developed players that went onto major colleges and careers in the National Hockey League. He was president of the New York Islanders fan club for players Clark Gilles, Bryan Trottier, Mike Bossy and Billy Harris during the years the Islanders won 4 straight Stanley Cups. Hall of Fame player, Bryan Trottier, is the Godfather to Larry’s daughter, Amanda.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Barbara Hill.

Larry is survived by his children, Amanda Beat (James) and Rebecca Hill; grandchildren, Brandon and Emily; brother, Danny Hill (Judy); 2 nephews; 1 great nephew; and 3 great nieces.

Upon Larry’s wishes cremation was chosen. A gathering will be held at Newcomer Funeral Home Louisville East Chapel (235 Juneau Drive, Louisville, KY 40243) on Sunday, July 24th, 2016 from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm. His Memorial Service will follow the gathering at 3:00 pm at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Larry’s name to the Fellowship of Christian Athletes (400 Blankenbaker Parkway, Suite 301, Louisville, KY 40203, 502-245-1514, www.fcalou.org).
