Richard Leo Becht, 79, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Tuesday, May 3, 2016. He was a man of great faith and trust in God. Richard was born September 15, 1936. He was self-employed, the owner of Becht Heating & Cooling for over 40 years. The joy of his life was his family, the proud father of 7 children, 25 grandchildren and 35 great-grandchildren. He loved music, playing cards and games, camping with family, and keeping his lawn manicured.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Arvil and Bea (Barr) Becht, and his brother, William R. Becht. Richard is survived by his wife, the love of his life for 60 years, Mary (Missi) Becht; his children and spouses, Mike (Diane), Beverly Kiesler, Marcia (Mark) Ernstberger, Kenny (Shirley), Kevin (Tammy), Denise (Greg) Luckett, and Brenda (Mark) Lilly; siblings and spouses, Lucille Missi, Phyllis Smallwood, Linda Steinbrenner, Sandy (Ralph) Pinnick.

Visitation will be 11 AM to 8 PM Friday, May 6 and 9 to 10 AM Saturday at Newcomer Funeral Home (3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany). His Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 AM on Saturday at St. Mary of the Knobs Church (5719 St. Mary’s Road, Floyds Knobs) with burial to follow in the church cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family encourages that expressions of sympathy be made to Alzheimer’s Association Greater KY/Southern IN (6100 Dutchmans Lane, Suite 401, Louisville, KY 40205), Mount St. Francis Center for Sprituality (101 St. Anthony Drive, Mt. St. Francis, IN 47146) or to LADO (PO Box 391, Greenville, IN 47124).
